Constant closed eye (just one)?

One of our Americanas is keeping her eye shut constantly. She can open it and will every few minutes for a few seconds but keeps it closed other than that. Just started this afternoon. We checked her eye and there doesn’t seem to be any cuts or marks around it. No swelling or film.

Any ideas of what that might be or what to do about it?

Thanks!

I'd think it was a respiratory issue. If the rinsing of the eye doesn't help anything, I'd start treating.

What do I need to get for her to start treating? Is that something to get at a vet? First timer with chickens so bare with me :) Thanks!

I would treat her eye withe saline and the ointment, and watch for more signs that might be of a respiratory disease. Look for nasal drainage or bubbles in an eye, or crackles when breathing. Hopefully, it is just an eye problem.
