Constant double Yolk eggs

I have a 4 month old Isa Brown and she has been laying 2 eggs a day.
I get about at least 2 double yolk eggs a week! Sometimes three!

Some are also fertile. My two questions are:

Is this a good thing she is laying double yolk?
Anyone ever try to hatch a double yolk egg?
And the rooster is a Bantom Old English/Bantom rooster. I have heard that cross breeding can cause defects. I dont want to hatch their eggs if cross breeding is a bad thing. Is this a true fact?

Double yolker: not necessarily a good thing. Just means she is releasing more than one ovum at a time. The yolks are forming, then getting packaged together into one egg. Yes, occasionally a dbl. yolk egg will hatch, but more often than not it will lead to death of the developing chicks.

I would not be at all concerned about cross breeding. You are more likely to see birth defects by continually breeding the same line of chickens without bringing in new blood.

Hopefully your Isa will settle down into a normal laying pattern. Over time, she may be more prone to internal laying issues than the pullet who settles into a more regular laying pattern, but I am just generalizing here.

Thank you for your response. I always thought it was a good thing if they lay double yolk but know I can see why it may be of concern for her future.

How do I get an Isa to not lay as much?

Why would you want to do that?
Once she gets her egg machine tuned up, the double yolkers will probably happen less frequently.

Chickens can't really lay 2 eggs a day...... maybe once as a fluke...it takes 25 hours for an egg to form.

Nah, it's possible. Just uncommon. She could easily have multiple eggs being formed at once, just in different stages at different times. It depends on how often she ovulates.

I tried to tell that to my BSL when she started laying. If I counted the number of yolks she laid in a week, including the dbl yolkers, normal eggs, and the rubber eggs, it was well over 10 for the first 3 weeks. She was definitely an over achiever, but has settled down. I still occasionally get 2 eggs/day from one of them. And yes, it's not the usual occurrence.

I have 2 isa brown hens that are laying, the other im not so sure. I can get from 2-5 eggs a day. Rare when I get 5 in a day, a little more common when i get 3. I see the double yolker Isa twice a day in her laying area.
