Constipated Chick, Need Help!!

We are just starting out with Chickens. I have two little baby silkies with this problem. We have straw as the bedding and are feeding them the recommended chicken feed as well has a large supply of water which I made sure they figured out how to drink. They're only about a week old and the smaller and weaker one developed this problem but now the bigger and stronger one has started to get it too... Is it something I'm feeding them?

I lost one Chicken to the dogs (fence broke) I just hope that these ones are ok.

What are you feeding them? Even though "they say" that chicks don't need it if all they are getting is chick starter, I'd recommend that you give them some chick grit. You can go out and scoop up some grit in your driveway. It should be about the same size as the granules of their starter crumble. I would not give them any type of "fiber pill".

Medicated starter feed. We also offered them chick grit. They get treat of bread, oats and some trimmings from tomato plants also some grass.

We used a baby syringe filled with warm water a few times today.. our pretty girl is feeling better now! She is a lot more lively! So hopefully she stays that way!

I had this problem too, I gave them a bath and apple cider vinegar in their water (3-4 teaspoons in one gallon) and it cleared up. hope this helps.

Tomato leaves are toxic by the way. They usually wont eat them anyway but just in case. Tomatoes on the other hand are great to feed as a small amount treat. A tablespoon of yogurt is good for the gut (the active cultures are good for the gut) and a Tablespoon of unfiltered vinegar like Braggs , the bottle should say "with the mother" on it, in the water is suggested by many to help.
