I am in need of help for one of my chicks.I wasn’t sure where to place this as it’s involving two different situations so I figured here would be ok.
One of my bantam is having serious issues using the restroom.I have cleaned it’s butt several times but it just gets reclogged up,and then it causes the chick not to be able to use the restroom, anytime the chick goes to poop it cries.Im wondering on how I should go about this and if I can fix this, and will it adventually disappear as the bird gets older?
I’m raising 7 chicks plus two turkey chicks in one brooder. One of the turkey chicks relentlessly keeps grabbing the chicks but their beaks and just pecking them on the tips of their beaks, and it isnt the normal light peck like their cleaning one another,it’s a grab, and he keeps doing this. The only other thing I can think of to stop the behavior is either Seperate the turkey chicks (only one is doing it),or add some enrichment now that the chicks have been together for awhile.Any help is appreciated

What does a chick restroom look like? Ummm?

To treat a constipated chick, I use slightly chilled coconut oil. Measure a teaspoon of coconut oil, then chill to make it solid. Then slice off slivers and slip them into the right side of the chick's beak. Allow it to close its beak and to swallow after each bit.

You can use mineral oil or olive oil (not vegetable oil or canola) but there is a danger of the chick aspirating the oil and it just makes an awful mess trying to get it safely into the chick.

Turkeys and chickens should not be raised and housed together for a number of reasons. Size issues and bullying are a couple. Diseases that turkeys can pass to chickens such as blackhead is another good reason.

Thanks will defiantly separate. The chicks poop looks totally normal other then it being clumped up.
