I have a 4 y.o. N.J. Red who began looking lethargic a few days ago. This morning she walked out of the coop, pecked around for a while, as usual, but then stopped and appeared to be struggling as if she were struggling to poop or lay but being unable. This lasted 4-5 minutes then she walked on. The first day she was slow I checked her out, gave her a little soak in warm water, cleaned her butt to be sure she was clean and there seemed to be no egg bound in her. Today's behavior I have not seen before. Any ideas?

Hi @onlyhuevoschicks :frow Welcome To BYC

Is your hen still laying eggs, when did she last lay?
I'm not sure what's going on with her, but it would be a good idea to monitor her. See what her poop looks like (photos?) Check her crop to see that it's empty in the morning.
At 4 yrs she may be having some reproductive problems. Getting a fecal float to check for worms would be a good idea as well.
