No need for sorrow. I had an idea that when I left the States, that I'd run into issues such as this. The up side is that I am able to afford to live in a safe neighborhood, pay for my utilities, medical expenses etc., without government assistance and without sacrificing my privacy and living space with 'roommates' just to make ends meet. I am welcome to raise poultry in my back yard without special licensing or permits and am even allowed to process my birds in my kitchen without a license or fee; without a government official inspecting my home to see if it's sanitary enough.
I put the pros and the cons on a scale and determined that I can live with a few shortcomings to gain the benefits of living here.
