Now, I want to send a prize to everyone who played but will need your addresses. If you are open to it, send your addresses by email and I will get right on that.
An extra special one for you wordgirl!!!!!!
If any of you ever need a chicken sexed by the way, go to either of these two. Of the ones we counted on gender, they each got all but 2 right. That is fantastic!
I was so happy to see so many high scores. I began to wonder when McMurray had a tough time with it. There were several people who got a lot of them right.
You did a good job of spotting the few white lobes.
Awwwww. You know you are a winner even without a prize. But I had such a fun time. I want to thank all of you for spending some of your precious time on this.
I really want to do it next year again. Only 1 of each kind of 25 chickens. That would really be fun to do. And some rare and unusual breeds..... But no crosses in the bunch.
Oh, thanks for the reminder Tex. I am going to alter the pages now to reflect the names that the girls (and a few boys) will be taking on. Check it out in a couple days all. And extra stuff to those who played the name game with me.
Thought I would update this and list the things I would do differently next time.
#1 - Start with chickens that I had specifically ordered. Too many of the same kind/color made IDing hard.
#2 - wait until 10-12 weeks if possible. In the short length of this contest, many of the chickens gender became more clear.
#3 - Prepare earlier. Take pictures and then post my invite to join in the fun.
#4 - Make sure that the printer is working!
#5 - Specify a particular word such as contest in the subject line, and create a rule in my email folders before the start.
#6 - Plan on it taking 10 times as long to do everything. It was a lot of work, but lots of fun.
#7 - Make arrangement with the hatchery when I order my chicks for this contest so that everything is prepared in advance..... Including having them ID the chickens.
#8 - Realize that I would have plenty of room in my BYC storage to include 3 pics of each chicken. Take better feet and standing (side view) pictures
What I would do the same:
#1 - Get my friend to help with the pictures. He did a great job and they came out very clear. And I could focus on the chickens.
#2 - Have fun!!!!!
Anyone thinking of having a contest. I encourage you. Plan on it taking some time, but do it! What a great way to meet people on BYC.
Congradulation ArizonaDesertChicks!!!!!! Good Job!
