UPDATE: Postponed to Monday August 24th, 6PM PST.
Things are taking a bit longer than planned due to a little bit of a heat wave in our area. I underestimated how hard it is to get each of 38 chickens to sit pretty for the camera (after finally caught) So, I managed to get myself a bit under the weather. Rather than making myself really ill, I am going to give myself a little time to do this properly. So the date was set back 3 days. Sorry for any inconvenience.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here ye, Here ye!
I have 38 chickens that I got from Murray McMurray Hatchery. This coming weekend they will be 8 weeks old. I want to ID Breed and Gender of each.
So, I talked to the president at Murray McMurray, and he is donating a $25 gift certificate as a prize to the first person who successfully identifies the most of my brood. After the contest they will mail out the certificate to you. (One time thing I am guessing, but so happy he is helping!
)
I am also including pics of my 8 new chicks if they arrive in good shape tomorrow. They are just for fun, but may be used as a tie breaker if it seems necessary.
I will be getting help from the people at Murray McMurray Hatchery to create a list of what they are (or as best they can tell).
Feel free to email me your guesses if you don't want to share the info on the site for others to use in their guessing. Or post it if you prefer.
The contest will officially start Friday August (UPDATED) 24th at 6PM PST (My time). This will give people a chance to be aware of it. It gives me time to get some good pictures and become a Gold Feather Member so I have enough space to post them. And it also gives the powers that be at BYC time to let me know what I need to do differently if there is a need.
And it also gives time for someone who doesn't want to participate to volunteer to help me to determine a winner if there are any unforeseen glitches. Speak up chicken pros.
I am really excited to do this. I hope a lot of you share in the guessing! Good Luck, I hope you win.
If there is a close call on a couple of entries, I will use the time and date stamp on the email and the topic posts to determine who was first.
Oh by the way, Murray McMurray Rocks!!!!
