I came out to see how the late layers were doing. They are both out, but now Ophelia is missingall seven of the girls decided they should jump on my lap with their muddy feet in hopes of getting a treat. Even my blue andie tried, and she's not usually very friendly. I am checking out their combs, and so far so good. No frostbite. I have been worried about Nox, the andie, and Henry, the rooster, but they are both fine.
Yes! Go to a neighboring farm for the eggs, that way they aren't travelling. If you're like me, you don't get enough at any one time to hatch that many. Just drive around till you hear crowing.I think I am gonna do a scientific experment involveing 3 types of incubations.
1st a box with a light and some form of thing for humidity
2nd http://www.strombergschickens.com/product/Mini-Chick-Bator-Incubator/basic-incubators
3rd My Brinsea mini eco
I wwas thinking I could do all shipped then I thought well no then it might not work cuase shipped eggs some can be hinky while others are ok, then I though Ok Ill use my eggs , well If I did that I would have to wait till there were enough laid to use the same amount in each bator. And as the Chick bator and the mini dont hold many eggs I cant do both can I ? Any ideas you guys ?
