I want chicks!!

Me too! Finally done with chicken chores. Now for the house. I would rather clean the chickens though. Ophelia assures me that she needs to lay her egg NOW, but she lies a lot. She has issues laying sometimes. She laid a shelless egg on the roost for her first egg. That was a fun mess. The next one, she got in the box...the shell anyway. The egg was on the floor. Sometimes she gives a double yolker, but doesn't put enough shell on it to cover the whole thing. Weird chicken that one.

Now she is begging for treats. I doubt she laid an egg already. I'll have to go check.

They are so stinky! Is it true that keeping the bucks away from the does makes better tasting milk? (Goat milk that I have had always tastes like the bucks smell.

I get fresh goat's milk from a friend. No one that has ever tasted it knows it came from goats. She keeps her bucks away from the does except during breeding. Because she has a dairy herd, the breedings are planned and each made in a "neutral" place away from the doe barn/pasture or buck barn/pasture. Whenever I need a "goat fix", I go over and visit. Can't have a goat here because this is "Not A Farm"
