I raise Sebrights, but not many on here seem to like them - they are good sellers here in MO

th
I love sebrights, really want to hatch some.

Ok I just fed watered and cleaned up after 36 horses and blanketed at least half lol and it is 8 degrees! So I'm not sure if I can play because too many posts have happened since I asked!! But I am really getting a Kim out of this thread!
I heard there are prank calls??!!! I want too haha;-)

OK I got this one.... WORST HATCH EVER!

Last spring after I got my Lavender and Black Ameraucanas I was hatching EVERY EGG they laid.... I was selling half the flock and wanted to get a head start on hatching. ANY WHO..... incubation was fine, lockdown was fine. I had almost 100% hatch. I had 3-4 Lavender (VERY needed at the time) some splits and some SBEL. 19 chicks total. Beautiful and healthy everyone! SO HAPPY with myself. So I left them in the hatcher over night so everyone could fluff up and dry. The next morning I came in to the HORROR..... the Water Heater Thermostat lost its mind and it was 113 degrees... ALL DEAD

I was CRUSHED.... I told my hubby out side because we had been talking about how good a hatch it was and how I really needed the chicks to start my flocks...... Hubby started laughing.... He did not believe me

To this day I will NEVER USE another WHT again. I bought Digital thermostats for EVERYTHING and even have extras just in case I need them.

This happened early in my hatching experiences... VERY DISHEARTENING ..... I was panicked about the other eggs till I got the new thermostats. Never had another hatch of that many Lavs till my Splits started to lay

really set my breeding way back.

I have NEVER LOST a chick to that problems since.

Oh my gosh!!! That is terrible! I'm so sorry about that! I would ball my eyes out!

sterile 2x2 or 4x4 folded over and made wet with warm water. Place over opening where foot is coming out of the shell. Wrap with vet wrap holding the egg in place on the chick. Wait 24 hours before peeking as it often allows things to re-hydrate and move forward. keep in bator in isolation and let rest
