Opinion is not science fact. Also some good reading: The Importance of Scientific Names for Organisms
I don't quite get you with Scientific names.

The Tasmanian Devil is only an example of how one can basically describe any carnivore.

Tasmanian Devil- Sarcophilus harrisii
Translation means - Herris's Flesh Lover.

Let's move on now please?

Can one believe in both creation and evolution?

Created first and with the ability to evolve.

Absolutely!
I think sometimes people get all wrapped up in the idea that believing in God means ignoring the gift of our big brains that need to figure stuff out. I believe He wants us to question and to seek.
So, basically this:

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forego their use. - Galileo Galilei

This is very interesting:

Has A Superintellect Monkeyed With Our Universe's Physics?

Here's a question I ask myself when the pressures from the well meaning but narrow minded make me feel like I might be crossing some sort of faith boundary...

If aliens showed up tomorrow, would it impact my faith in God?
To me, the pinnacle of faith that I hope to achieve is to just say "Ok, interesting work there, Father. Are these the friendly-distant-cousin sort of aliens, or the squash 'em like-outer-space-bugs sort of aliens?"

I watched a cool documentary called "God of Wonders" which pointed out some areas of science that would seem impossible without God.

To bring it all back to the Bible, there are some interesting discrepancies in translation by the scholars of the King James era (all modern versions are based on their work).
One of those involves the "7 days" of creation.
The word translated as "day" is "yom". It's a multipurpose word that means "unit of time" used throughout the Bible with all different frames of time. So it was up to the readers to determine from context what that time frame is.

"... with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." - 2 Peter 3:8

Personally, I feel flexible about it. Who am I to say how God "must" work? I only know that He did it. If he used evolution(*) or 7 days of creation, either way it's a miracle. None of it would make sense without Him.
I can't believe in chaos leading to favorable results. That notion seems more like "magical thinking" than anything to me.

(*) There is a more accurate word than evolution, but dang I cannot remember it. My mom is demanding I make her pizza for dinner and a quick search didn't help. (Dinner is so late because it only just got dark and chicken stuff, so she's hangry, lol)
