So we moved to a house right outside village limits. The neighbors have ducks and chickens and guineas so they don't mind our boys. We've got a smallish stable that the previous owners used for horses some time ago. I have no idea how long ago but the place is covered in cobwebs and dust. There are bales of straw everywhere - most are packed together and seem to serve as the floor. We've been working on cleaning things up. The kids have been pulling out the straw bales and we're dusting as we go. My plan right now is to get all of the straw out of the barn. We're going to burn the stuff that's loose. The bales we've moved so far don't appear to have any mold. There are ladybugs everywhere.
Anyway, I really don't know what to do with the straw. Is it still good and if it is, what's the best way to store it? Our plan is to clear everything down to dirt, lay down a pallet or two in a corner and stack the straw up on them. Is this ok or should we just get rid of all the straw and buy new?
