Hi all!
We recently acquired 3, 3 week old chicks from my children's school. However, we've only have experience raising show rabbits, but are excited for this new adventure. We just sold all the rabbits except for one as a pet and we are wondering if we could convert this homemade hutch to a coop. We are willing to make adjustment for enclosing it or we can break it down, start fresh and reuse the materials. Any thoughts or recommendation would be very helpful. Thanks in advanced!

7 ft long, 6ft tall, 34 in depth, 3ft heigth top and bottom. (Is 3 ft high enough for chickens?)

700

We have extra space to make a run come off hutch.

The 3 foot height shouldn't be an issue. There are two things you can do...take the middle shelf out so that they have the whole 3 feet. Then you can take 2 x 4 and make an elevated frame to lift that existing structure, so that the run size is maximized. On second look...you could actually cut the existing structure in directly down the middle to make a box out of it. This way the depth doubles and maximizes the size? Just an idea. You have a blank slate here and quite a few possibilities. Good luck!
