Don't have my chicks yet, but I was considering naming them all after spices or egg/chicken dishes. Will probably change my mind a hundred times once I meet them and call them all chick chick in the end (sigh.... cat is named Kitty Kat) Love the Italian names and the Flower names... so cute. We had a station wagon that we named Big Mom because when my dad brought it home and I saw it for the first time, I said "That's a BIG MOMMA!" Fond memories!!

I am the nerdiest nerd that ever did nerd. Everyone gives me strange looks when I list off my chicken names... geez, don't they understand that I need to get my bizarre names out in a relatively safe environment, or else I'll eventually be one of those Crazy People that names their children something painfully ridiculous?

Cordelia (Speckled Sussex) - named after Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan from my favorite sci-fi series... unless she's being really bossy, in which case I claim she's named after Cordelia from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Eris (the other Speckled Sussex) - she was going to be Aeris / Aerith after the character from Final Fantasy 7, but I couldn't figure out which spelling I wanted, and by the time I had decided it was clear she was a Goddess of Discord instead. Fnord!

Franziska (Barred Rock) - Franziska von Karma from the Ace Attorney video game series. She pecks everything, so of course I had to name her after the character that carries a whip around and lashes out at people whenever she's upset. It helps that she's about as elegant as a chicken can get (which isn't much, but whatever).

Faraday (the other Barred Rock) - after Kay Faraday, from the same video games. If she turns out to be a he - and she certainly looks most roosterish of the bunch - I can claim it's a guy name, otherwise it's a surname Because I Am A Crazy Namer.

Skaði (Silver-Laced Wyandotte) - partially after the Nose goddess of winter and mountains, but mostly after a chocobo from a fanfiction series I really liked. I really, really wanted to have a chocobo name in there somewhere, but most in the games don't have names and the ones that do are named, like... "Boko". So I stole a name from fanfiction instead.

Terezi (the other Silver-Laced Wyandotte) - after Terezi Pyrope from the webseries Homestuck. The character is blind and navigates by sense of taste (that is, licking everything)... the chicken also has a habit of putting everything in her mouth.

Well, we've had roosters like Napoleon (Bonaparte), Admiral Nelson, Hitler, Stalin, and at least one other named after a historical man.

And then there are the hens:
Lizzy (An EE), Jane(An EE), Lydia (an EE), Georgiana (A Barred Rock), and Charlotte (yet another EE) were all named after characters in Pride and Prejudice.

And the various others:
