Coon attack/ A.M. Radio solution?

And motion lights are USELESS. Had racoons and possums come right up to my front door and killing pullets in a cage and my own pet CAT.

Motion light was on. Grrrrrrrrr.

Used a radio in the barn and don't think that works either. Wouldn't take a chance...doesn't take long for predators to get used to most any kind of noise or light.

what we need to do is breed a breed of chicken that hunts raccoons in the night.

I had a lot of problems with coon and possom losses a year ago , we have a large
area of undeveloped land just behind us , and my pens are close to my workshop (power) I put 2 motion sensor lights at the back corners , removed 1 bulb and put a
screw it plug socket and plugged in a radio set on a local 24 hour talk format , now when the varments come around they get blasted with light and talk at the same time.
havn't had any losses to them sence I set this system up . got the radio's from our local flea mkt for a couple of bucks each .
This may not work every where but it does here .

well we had a small run in, but not at the coop.. Thank goodness just at the feed shed where I found out we had a problem. By accident the freezer I keep feed in was left open and A coon got trapped inside AND well boy the mess he made was YUCK!! coon scat right on my new gloves. Now we are careful about the rascal. Also black bear scat 100 feet near the barn, so we are super careful about leaving feed out even the few pieces of grain left in the feeders is put away. So far no bad accidents yet....knock on wood

We now have a new resident under our new goat barn and I thought it might be a skunk....so I was told to try moth balls around the base of the barn..I guess they don't like the smell... Well if I was a skunk I woud'nt mind moth balls compared to my own smell LOL

Electric fence and trap. You will catch the bold ones immediately and the next few will get zapped and find a meal elsewhere.
I lost 30 birds before implementing plan Zap N Trap. Since then I haven't lost one in 9 months.
