So far I'm pretty positive I know how the bastard(s) got into my coop. I have ventalation slots along the side where the roof meets the wall. I didnt think it was big enough for a coon to slip in so I never wired it up. Well dummy me was proven wrong. Only this time I'm not gonna ignore it. Imma board it up.

Or if you need that space for ventilation.......use welded wire, hardware cloth or some such thing instead of boarding it up. Do not use chicken wire, of course. They would probably just rip that down.

You could try putting hardware clothe over it instead to block its entry. Then yoh can still have ventilation.

I do have hardware cloth laying around. The vents double as light source too so I didnt really want to board it up but now I'm just paranoid.

BTW, one more humane option to dispatch a live trap caught coon vs. drowning, firearms, clubs, etc.

Perhaps move the live trap into a dark garbage bag......use a small beverage cooler......the type with a screw fitting for a short (2 to 3 feet) piece garden hose on the drain? Run the hose from the elevated (CO2 is heavier than air and sinks) cooler into the garbage bag and seal it up. Couple gallons of white vinegar and a couple boxes of arm and hammer baking soda and a couple buckets in the cooler and you are all set. Initial run to put him to sleep, then the big hammer run to put him to death?

Actually using baking soda and vinegar is highly inhumane because you can sevearly burn the lungs vs actually killing the little shits. It's even dangerous with dry ice BUT I used to gas rats that way. Dry ice and double chamber system I made out of totes

If you do it right they will die from oxygen starvation. Done correctly they will have no access to oxygen.

Well I suppose if it has to do with stuff killing my chickens or someone else's and how to kill that stuff that is killing my chickens or help someone else deal with said chicken killing stuff then label me a serial killer and carry on.
