coop build questions

thank you!! we have them almost 3' wide, wonder if make round roost would work, like pine tree with limbs lobbed off??

No, no.... I mean the part the chickens actually sit on....looks like 1" diameter doweling, which is too small for large fowl.
Flat roost bars are best especially in cold climates, they can sit flat footed and stable, and hunker down so their feathers cover their feet.
 
oh!! well crap, looks like its coming back out, used 1", so flat better? worried bout bumblefoot
 
Just put 2x4's, wide side up over those dowels, screw them in place from the outside of the side pieces.

The ladder type deal you've got fashioned will allow them to hop down a 'step' at a time...or there's plenty of room for them to fly down...and lots of bedding for a softer landing should help curtail any bumblefoot.
 
I would worry the metal would get too cold here for them but its great it works for you. I plan to add to flock,12 now, fowl math come spring!! muhahaha!!
