coop build questions

A big concern with a door on the outside is to make sure no little paws or claws can get a grip and just lift the door in the middle of the night, mine sits in a channel all around the door so nothing can get a hold of it.

is over 20 lbs is steel bottom edge kinda sharp, day 3 n no problem as of yet. also bottom edge sits on top of 6" channel no room for claws to get grip but I do get your point.

that's what I told hubby! I not concerned over door is only till automatic door is purchased. we have been using electric netting since June and no break ins through it, big issue since moving to new coop is hawks, top covering going to b tricky, many trees in run area.

Beautiful coop! I'm concerned about ventilation and light; More windows! You can make window openings, especially facing south, and cover them with hardware cloth, very well attached. Do you have soffet venting? More light and air definitely. Mary

thank you Mary! top of peak has 3 inch gap covered with cobra coil under shingles, like our cabin. also soccer vents at end at peaks 7". both windows open n covered with hardware screen and the logs ate not fitted real well some gaps but not over 1/8". we plan to stain chink next year, may have more windows installed if need to, many spikes in there, so saws all time. door has widow also when taking pic I block that out n make it look darker than it really is. the laying numbers have held n are going up since we moved them. I have to post more pics I skipped a few details, sorry all! all
