Here is our coop so far. DH will be putting the walls,floor and ceiling on this week. Eventually there will be about a 15 foot run on either side (so we can alternate the runs and give the poor ground a break).

He's doing such a good job!

I've also been thinking about doing the two run method myself. I was thinking about tilling the soil when the chickens are done with one run. Get it nice and loose, those chickens can sure pack the ground down. Then throw in yard clippings and leaves during the season. Help it grow nice and thick.

Or even growing my tomatoes in the coop that is having the year off. That way they would be protected from our local Elk and Deer. We have such an Elk issue I have no idea how I will ever get a garden or my fruit trees to grow!

I heard that hanging soap and/or hair clippings around the gardens perimeter works at keeping deer and elk away. Haven't yet tried it though. It is a scent thing.

LOVE the coop!!! It is really very nice!!! Can't wait to see the finished results...
