Coop camera

I've noticed cheap security cameras at our local Harbor Freight. Found this info on their website
http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=camera&Submit=Go
Wired cameras starting at $30 bucks and some have night vision.

Also, our Big Lots has had wireless digital security cam on shelf behind register that the manager wanted to sell me a while back and said he couldn't get rid of them. I read the box and trying to figure out how expensive the replacement batteries would be. I recall the asking price around $60, and many months later they were still sitting there. I thought it would be good to have for security but didn't have the bucks to blow on an unknown product. I wrote down the maker info and thought I'd get around to googling it but never did. Big Lots are great about returns, so next time I go I'll take another look.

Wireless sounds great, but just wonder about battery life/cost/etc? Anyone know?

Yeah, but I just realized that I am NOT going to do this.....
No way would it be a good idea for me.
I can't get out from behind this darned computer as it is....
Another reason not to get up and go OUTSIDE is a bad idea for me.

I like the idea of the idea, but....I'm not going there.
You guys have fun.

Hey I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

Most of the cheap cameras your going to find have a narrow Field of view, 40 - 60 degrees. Put your hands together at 60 degrees and look down and you will see that is very narrow and really won't get but one corner of your coup.

You are going to want a 90 - 110 degree angle to get at least half your coup. those get a bit more expensive. Most people already have power running to the coop for lighting, so you don'[t need ot worry about batteries.

I would suggest getting a IP camera, so you can view it right from your computer, or any computer in the world for that matter. They cost a few more $ but it is way worth it.

This Camera is a Pan tilt Zoom, Which means you can control were it is looking right from your computer, What fun! you would also need to buy a wireless adapter for it, but those are about $30
