Coop cameras????

So I decided given my slow internet to go with this system. The reviews are really mixed but I can trust amazon to do right if it's awful.

I saw a cheap Nest camera on amazon that can be used for outdoors. I wanted to get it for the coop myself. You can view it live on your phone.

Those do look nice. My internet is really slow and goes down throughout the day. So wires needed for me.

You don't need an internet connection to use a LAN IP camera. The camera is connected to you Local Area Network ie it is only an internal connection. If you open your router in a browser you can see the LAN address of anything connected to it. Most routers are either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 so if you type that into the address bar you can see your router. A NVR camera system is even simpler to set up, you just connect the camera to the NVR and a monitor... just looking at your link from above and the cameras are IP cameras and I'd bet the NVR is a POE (Power Over Ethernet). So it looks like that system can connect to your router and you can view the cameras on any PC connected to the router. The best thing about Amazon is if you can't get it to work send it back for free.

I wanted to avoid the systems that are always loading to the cloud particularly. Uploading a pic to post here takes between 45 seconds to well over a minute. So streaming uploads are a no go. Hope I ordered the right thing...

Yea, I can't do cloud based anything as I have very limited bandwidth. That looks like a decent one.

The ability to view on your mobile is attractive but I know going in it may not work well. Still good basic security and at home monitoring. I have a horse who needs watching, she just got hurt the other night actually, pushed me into pulling the trigger on this finally.

I can view any of my cameras on my phone so long as I'm within range of my wifi, just connect to the wifi and type in the URL in the phone browser. For example my USB camera is connected to the Raspberry Pi and a software called motion throws up a web page that I can view by going to 192.168.1.120:8081. All is local and not on the internet.

Other than a trail cam this is new to me so I'll be learning as I go. I have a good drill, will attack this project. Also an unused computer monitor, so I think I can connect that for in house viewing. Not sure if I can view all cameras at once or what.

Boy the cameras are small!
