Coop decreasing property value *Update in first post

To me, it would INCREASE your property value.

If I had it to do over, I would build a completely underground
home. Let weeds grow over the place.

A new neighbor a few years ago build one large metal pole barn.
His actual house is inside it. Parking lot and all inside. Really pretty
cool.

But a nice coop? I would consider it a plus.

Perhaps if beauty is in the eye of the beholder, coops are too. I know whenever I look at real estate, if there is an established coop already on the property it makes more, not less, interested in the property. Real Estate Agents, like doctors, don't know everything.

Yup, I agree with the others, assuming it's a nicely done coop, it should actually increase the value. Mine did, as well as a shed I added.

Keep us posted.

We just switched ins companies and the come out to take pictures too. He also took pics of my coops and I asked him if it was a good thing or bad thing to have them and he said good because many ppl are looking for property to just be able to get chickens and not have to build anything. I should increase the value he said...not by much but it will increase it. And if yours is matching...even better

Mine isn't matching really but he said it was in great shape.

Our outbuildings definitely increased the value, and they are not fancy, just metal buildings with metal roofs, utility buildings.

Around here a nice coop will increase sell ability. If they like 2 houses real well they may chose yours based on the coop. The only buildings that actually increase property values are barns and large utility buildings. Storage sheds and anything less than 16x20 doesn't really increase value. It could decrease sell ability but not value. As was previously mentioned it's best to have a coop that can be easily used for something else like a tool shed or storage.

Outbuildings, add value. Infact I gave the agent a bare-bones "need" list for the house, but had a much longer list for outbuildings, or room to put them.

One of my outbuildings would decrease my property value. *sigh*
Actually 2 of them.. **double sigh**
We would take them down if we were going to sell...
