So, I finally finished my coop, and am very satisfied with the build. But, now I am trying to decide on what type of fencing I am going to install for the run - chickens go in it in two weeks. Initially I wanted netting from premire1, but then thought that installing an electric fence on t-posts would be great, as I could put a few sheep in it also. If I did the netting I would get two or three of the of the 150 foot nets, or if I was doing t-posts, then simply do and 200 X 85 foot section of the side yard which I could expand later. The fencing is more to keep things out than keep the chickens in. Or, maybe just free range the birds like everyone else does. Or just eat the chickens and sleep in the coop.......

Anyway - the coop - based off of The Daisy plans from mypetchicken.com:

And a bit of art on the door done by my daughter:

Very nice! What did you use for the windows? And is you daughter available to make another door drawing ? ;-)

Fantastic coop! Always love red on my "farm" buildings. Gotta say. And the painting is beautiful. One of a kind. Really has a Scandinavian folkart feel. Love it. My eye drew right to it.

Do you have pictures of the inside of the coop? Or is it set up with your cot already? LOL.

For the windows, I was looking for a good and cheap solution, and came up with the idea of trying fluorescent light panels that I found at Home Depot. I bought a 48" x 24" panel and cut it in half to make two 24 x 24 windows. I am bracing it on the corners and in the center, and so far it has held up in 40 plus MPH winds. Not sure how long they will last though, but I paid about $7.00 total and I am happy with that.

My daughter said she would make another door drawing - but was wondering about airfare -

Here are a few inside pictures - still have a bit of work to do on the nest boxes.

I am using a branch for a perch and will put another perch in somewhere also - The perch ranges in diameter from 2-3/4 to 2 inches.

Looking the other way.

One of the reasons I chose this design was for the large doors that make cleaning the coop easy. My last coop was on the ground with a very small door that I barely fit through.

Not sure how long this will last, but this is how I choose to stop rain from getting into the nest boxes - I need a new more nails on the top flap.

Looks nice, do the windows open for the summer? It would be nice to have a hardware cloth screen type of thing in the door opening, it would let alot of fresh air in.

That is a great idea but I am now sure if I want to remove and reinstall them as they are extremely fragile - maybe I will make a separate frame type insert for the panels in order to safely remove them. As of now, for additional ventilation there are boards in the rafters that come out which should help quite a bit especially with the door open.
