Could I suggest an aluminum storm door?

I got mine free from Craigslist. It is a 2 window one with the bottom window that slides up. Mine is 70 inches tall, cut down from the original 80 inches. It's quite easy to do if you have a grinder or metal cutting tool. Just unscrew the corner brackes off the bottom, remove the bottom piece and cut the angles off the corners. Then cut across the aluminum panel.

If you don't like the glass, it can be easily removed for hardware cloth.

I love aluminum and glass as they don't deteriate from the weather. Plus it has a full length hinge which is super strong.

The first pic is off the internet but its the same style door. The second pic is my door with the bottom cut off to fit.

Good idea.

A storm door is made to withstand exposure to the weather.

Yes please! The door is the only thing i’m stuck on and i think i’m thinking too far into it and far more complicated then it is😂
I saw other suggestions on storm doors and screen doors. I scored salvage exterior doors and I am very happy with that choice.
One thing to be aware that with a regular human door and the framing requires for that you will be going higher than 6’.
I haven’t regretted that although it wasn’t what I originally imagined.

I love the suggestions about the screen door cut down. If you use a wood door I agree they're mostly hollow with only cardboard in middle. ( I used to sell commercial solid wood doors .) If you can score one if these make sure you keep it painted cause even those require big hinges good framing and surface wood us very thin. So getting something that's made to be outside is best imo.
