I am wondering if we can leave our coop door open during the winter day and night or should it be kept closed since a lot of wind will get in? I have read that you can hang a towel over the door that the chickens will learn to push through, anyone tried this?

I think it depends where you live and on your own philosophy. personally I have a door that I close in evenings to keep the chickens safe but also warm in winter. they do not like drafts. I think towel would work but then there is the whole safety issue. if chicken can get out predator can get in

I leave a whole wall open, no problem.
