Coop finished (pic heavy on post #14, w/ run attached #24)

Should do - and probably scratch proof too. The only thing is that you need to keep it dry - the odd spill here and there wouldn't matter but you need to mop it up - you want to stop moisture from getting under the top laminate layer and into that mdf (?) layer underneath because that will swell and cause the floor to warp if it's constantly moist. I have laminate flooring through the house and it works great - easy to clean but I am diligent in mopping up spills.

It looks fantastic by the way - a work of art! Great recycling!

Thank you. I have never lived with laminate flooring. We have the wood floors that were put in the house in 1944 and vinyl in the kitchens and baths. The chicks occasionally slip when they scurry around the back bathroom when I let them out. This is where the brooder is and the room has vinyl. I am hoping it won't be as slippery on the laminate, especially since it will be covered in bedding.

Well, I decided not to use the laminate flooring after much more consideration. Instead I bought new vinyl flooring. I was concerned I couldn't hose it out if I needed to. It now has vinyl on most of the horizontal spaces, including the storage area since it came in a 12ft long piece. Its only a partially recycled coop now.

Painting is done. I have to put the hardware back on, but that is about it. I have not done anything else to the run portion lately. I will start that as soon as the coop is complete.

I also finished the windows openings and roof openings with the hardware cloth and aluminum screen. I will take more pics tomorrow, but here is one from last weekend. The body is lemon yellow to match our house, trim is white and doors are lilac. The inside was painted brown semi gloss to help camoflage the grime. My daughter painted a small mural on the inside today, while I finished the outside trim paint.

That's just magnificent work! I love the fact that you used recycled materials! The girls look happy with their new digs. And so they should - the chicken cut out on the window suits it perfectly.

Congratulations
