I don't think ANYTHING works on carpet but back muscles and sunshine! If it's wall-to-wall, it's likely ruined. For removable rugs, if you can drag it outside, get it out of the basement as quickly as possible. If it's already smelling musty, that's probably what's making you sick. Cut it up and get it out of there asap. We tried everything, and never did get the musty smell out of the downstairs wood and rugs, even when they were dry. We ended up replacing the carpet, some of the wood and Kilz painting what was left. We would have saved a lot of effort (and money) if we'd just taken it out in the first place.@MROO kitty litter is genius! Does it work on Carpet? I’ll check with some local vets tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions.
