Coop flooring-What kind is in yours?

We have just a regular wood floor dropout. That way we can just unlatch the bottom and all the feces roll out to be scooped up on the ground and used as "natural fertilizer".

i have self-stick tiles in a checkerboard pattern. looks cute and i don't have any problems with mine. but...i live in socal where the weather stays nice and the coop is only 4x5.

Hello all....a newbie here. I put down formica counter top material in mine. I didn't glue it down. I took a few hex head sheet metal screws and screwed them down to the plywood floor. If I decide to replace it, or when I do a complete overhaul clean up, I can actually unscrew it, and remove it, then put it back in.

3/4 inch Plywood, Covered in rubberized roof coat, Covered by anywhere from 4 to 12 inchs of pinewood shavings.

My DH built my coop 8 X 10. He put down cement board on the floor and we covered it with a piece of heavy grade linoleum. We just rolled it down and didn't attach it to the floor. We do deep litter method with wood shavings and fresh hay. I prefer to use fresh grass clippings because it smells great!! The linoleum is VERY easy to clean!!

I have some of those tiles but I'm planning on using them on the poop board in the second coop - and attaching them with a staple gun rather than depending on the adhesive.

Dirt here also, for several coops over the years, wouldn't have anything else.

Agree that self-stick tiles will just be something to regret. If you're going to have a wood floor, I feel the best way to go by far is paint. Just paint it well and it will last a long time. use a primer and two coats of paint at the very least, and seal it well where the floor meets the wall. If you go with linoleum, it's handy to extend it a few inches up the wall. Realize that you will probably have to replace or at least remove it in time.
