Coop Flooring ?

I have just pressure treated 1/2" plywood and use the deep litter method. The hens rarely get down to the floor and I have not had problems with any poo on the floor when I hoe it out in the spring. If the waterer leaks, I don't have to worry about moisture getting trapped between the vinyl and the wood. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Well if you check my coop page to see our hen house--it is only 5x4 and 32" off the ground so its a different set up. We did use plywood and then put vinyl down as well as paint the inside of the coop with porch paint. This has made it sooo easy to clean I love it! I only use about 4 inches of pine shavings though and clean it often as its close to the house.

To totally clean it all I do is lift the wood panel next to the door and whoosh! the shavings slide off and it is clean and dry! I do hand clean (gloves of course) the poo under the roost daily and add some new shavings every three or four days. This way I only have to totally clean it out every few weeks and add a little food grade DE and it really stays clean--and NO smell or flies!

I couldn't have a dirt floored coop because where my coop sits isn't level. So my coop is raised with 3/4" plywood floor that we already had. I was going to put vinyl down, but I found a 4x8 sheet of wall board that goes in a shower surround up in the top of my garage. It was slick and waterproof like vinyl, so I used that instead. I had to buy another sheet and found it at Lowes for 12.00. I nailed it down with those short roofing nails with the big heads. Works great. Now...I just built my coop last July so I don't know how long it will last, but I keep the waterers in the run and so have had no issues with water inside the coop. I have 6-8 inches of shavings in the coop and a poop board under the roost. I also use shavings on the poop board with a little Stall Dry or Sweet PDZ for smell/moisture control and also sprinkle DE on occassion, makes for easy clean up. My run is a pvc hoop run that is covered with a tarp so my run doesn't get all wet and mucky. I can keep their feed and water out there with no issues. I made two Christmas cookie tin water heaters for my plastic and metal waterers, they have worked great! My house has no insulation or interior walls so wasn't able to extend the flooring up the walls. It sounds like what you have planned will work just fine!

It's been in use for over 7mos now. After it drys, it's like a hard rubber floor. It's alot easier to put down than linoleum, and it will seal the walls to the floor. No cracks for parasites to hide in.

My floor base is ½ inch pressure treated plywood.
Over that, is bass boat decking. It has non-slip texture, unlike vinyl kitchen flooring.
I nailed it to the floor with shingling nails.
It cleans up really easily and is not slippery

I decided to add the extra layer over the plywood to make sure it stayed dry as possible. Even though it is pressure treated, I wanted to be sure it lasts so long that I never have to build again.

With lots of wood chips the wood base should never see a drop of water on it.

Our floor is wood painted with outdoor paint. We put a piece of vinyl down. We did not attach it just in case water would spill or if you want to do a deep cleaning. The glueless vinyl is heavy enough that it won't move. We just got smart and when the girls go to bed at night we place some newspaper under the roost and in the morning we just roll up the paper and don't have to scoop poop. Of course with it usually being around 0 at night, frozen poop rolls very easy!
