That's sad. I've heard if there is a sick or weak hen, the others will attack and kill. survival of the fittest I suppose. Your flock is only as strong as the weakest member. Why would all the hens in the coop just jump on one hen and kill her?
Yeah more then likely she had a weakness or was becoming weaker. There are also certain breeds that are aggressive. How long have you had the chickens together and what breed(s) are they? How old are they?
Well then something weird happened. To be that old, raised together and a large, healthy hen.....If it were to happen again, and I'm prayin it doesn't....you need to get a game camera set up to watch. Truly sorry for your loss, just heartbreakin, especially when nothin was wrong....They are green egger's 11/2 yr. old. My girl was healthy this morning one of my largest
hens. Went to feed this evening and they all had her in the corner of the coop. I've had them do that to a sick hen, but I knew she had a egg broke in her. Bad 'ol Rooster. This
hen was just fine. And they've been raised together.
Was she already dead?Went to feed this evening and they all had her in the corner of the coop.
I wondered that myself...Was she already dead?
