Coop Modification Recommendations

HI @Sueby
Which directions do the windows on your coop face? North? South? East? West?
I‘m trying to figure out the best direction to fact the coop windows. Do I face them South so the get tons of light from the sun or North where they will be shaded?
Since there are no windows in the back of the coop, I was concerned if I face it North it will be too dark. Then again, if I face it South, there might be too much Summer sun.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Mine face north. It's the way it had to be here, I didn't have a choice, but I think it's probably best as our weather never comes from the north so I never have to close them. As far as light - it hasn't been an issue. They go in before the sun sets & it's not too dark for them to get situated. I do agree that facing south would probably get it really hot in there in the summer. If I had a choice I would leave them facing north because of the weather.

Thanks for your response. :)
I'm going to have the coop face north as well.

Which way to face the windows depends on your individual situation. For me, all of the nasty cold wind and snow comes from the north or west. So if I faced them north, they would have to be closed all winter to keep the 40+mph wind out.(Not to mention the snow.) Here (central WA.) facing things south, or even east is best.
Thanks for sharing your recommendations.

Hi!

I am looking at this coop as a possibility for my 9. Are you able to stand up inside of it? I'm wondering if I will be hunched over all the time for cleaning.

Also, I was hoping to keep some open space under the coop so as not to lose square footage of my run. (The coop will sit in the run). Is there enough room under the coop for chickens to roam under it?
