No it won't hurt them at all. It will kill the bugs and that is what you want.

I had a few mites in my nest boxes early this spring. I did a thorough clean out, dusted a bit of Sevin, and for good measure, added some dried orange peel and citronella. I have not seen a mite since. I plan to lay in a good supply of citronella and lemon balm before fall to tie me over the winter. I've taken cuttings from the huge plant that I bought. The first cutting lost all of it's leaves, but finally took root. I have about 8 more cuttings of various sizes, and after they root, I will gift some of them to my poultry keeping friends.
