Does anyone know if it would be alright to put my coop on my sand mound? The coop is too close to my raised veggie garden and the girls just hop on up there and help themselves! I appreciate your help!

First.. welcome to BYC from Wisconsin. When you say you want to put your coop on your sand pile what does that mean? You literally have a pile of sand sitting in the yard? If this is the case, I would say definatley.... YES. Sand is a very popular substrate for many chicken owners including me. I drains well, it helps keep the girls feet clean and if it coarse, they can use it as grit.

Thanks for the welcome! A sand mound out here in PA is actually a mound of dirt, top soil and grass in which our septic system is covered by. No idea why they actually call it a sand mound haha. I have sunflowers growing off the one side.

So its a mound system? Do they have a leach field like the traditional systems? If so, I would say you may want to check with a septic system company. Leach fields need to breath to "compost" so to speak. Other that that I think its not a bad idea.
