I have mentioned a sister who rents 1800 sq. ft. apartment on a 5 acre animal farm. The owner keeps 80 layers (also turkeys, 36 meat birds, geese, 14 lambs/11 spring born etc.).

This is her coop, building is 12' by 40' divided in three (width 10', 14' and 12') by 12' rooms.

Very clever idea. There are boards that can be opened across the back of the coop so that roost droppings can be raked out the back and onto the compost heap. VERY sweet!
