I can't believe all the cool designs I get to see on this site. I found you guys by just surfing on chicken info and I found a gold mine. Nice job on your coop.
About the meat birds, I have 10 coming. So, should I not keep them with my new chicks? Their all coming at the same time.....6 RIR's, 6 Buff Orph's and 3 Barred Rocks and the 10 meat birds.

I kept mine together for only a few days. The meat birds are VERY aggressive when it comes to eating. They fight for a spot at the trough. I was going to brood mine together, but the layers will hardly get to eat much when they're together. I switched to a refrigerator box for my meat birds and a dryer box for the layers. That also allowed me to feed them different food.

Most people butcher at 8-10 weeks. They don't move around much because they get so big. All they do is eat, drink, poop, and lay around. Sometimes all at the same time. Mine lay in front of the troughs with their heads in it.
