Coop roof ventilation

I agree! I’m into roofing from Menard’s for $112; Home Depot for $645; Amazon for hardware cloth, solar setup (door, lights and cameras) for $250. I previously built a run, 8’x32’ that I’ll let the chickens into via pop door on timer. They’ll have access to the predator-proof 4’x12’ area whenever they want. There will be free ranging opportunities when I’m working in yard. I will have 10 chicks.

Lol. I was mulling over attaching the hardware cloth and was considering fashioning individual screens for each opening, then fastening screen in each space.
Well, this might be much easier,

I’m finalizing plans on 4x8 coop with attached run and need advice. Can I place rafters on top of side walls to create a ventilation gap of 1-1/2” under the entire roof perimeter? Essentially it’d be wall, rafter on top, then roofing connected to the rafters. Hope my question is clear - it’s clear in my mind!
We put the normal "roof" vents in place (4 on each side) but also added extra vents on the ends of the coop (2 vents each side). Ventilation is important for chickens and because our coops have no windows (because of bear attacks) we added lots of vents. See? We purchased the roof vents and these side vents from Home Depot. I have vents that are not installed if you want photos of that. Let me know. :)
