Coop roosts (Please Post your pics)

I am using an old chair turned on its side as a temporary roost right now.

The (2) 6 week olds graduated to the big house just last week so I guess you would call it a training roost.

It gets them a couple feet off the ground just til I can figure out a more permanent solution.

I appreciate this topic as I too have been struggling with exactly what I want to do for a permanent roost.

I used an old bookshelving unit turned on its side for roosts for my chicks up until 8 weeks this year, I think you should stick with the chair theme, adds character!

I was thinking of using the side to an old Jenny Lind crib. We cut some of the rungs out to put about a foot in between them. Would that be too skinny, though? Right now the girls are only 3 weeks old, but when they are full grown maybe the rungs will be too skinny.

Hi Folks, Just how important are roosts? If they have one outside to use during the day, do they really need one at night? I'm trying to figure out a coop design to separate my birds by breed. It would be easier if I could come up with a design that would suit all of them and just build three or four of the same kind. Inside room and easy access for cleaning, etc. is why I'm questioning the need for a roost. I need to house about 8 chickens in each. I'm open for any and all suggestions. There are soooo many topics if someone could narrow down some that would be helpful!

These are the roosts for the new coop. We have added indoor/outdoor carpet on the 2x4's. 2 of my gals got bumble foot and my vet suggested lower roosts and the carpet. (Lower roosts so there isn't much pressure on their feet when they jump down)

New coop almost finished. The old coop was built for 4 gals but chicken math set in and we have 10 gals now.
