We are almost finished with our coop and run. Still have some wire to put in the ground around the run and coop. Seems to have a few areas on coop that need addressed in regards to possible predators, but will be introducing our chickens to the coop/run soon. We are concerned that we have found mushrooms growing in the run area. Will this cause the chickens to become sick or will they avoid them? Concerned about this situation. Thank you for your help.

I would pick them and throw them away. Chickens locked in a run are more inclined to eat things they wouldn't if they were out foraging in a free range situation, with better choices.

I get rid of those in my yard when I find them. I just came across some last week, due to all the extra rain we have gotten this year.

I think you should remove them. As WoodlandWoman stated, chickens who free range would normally leave them, but chickens who are kept in closed quarters would pick at them in a heartbeat, and you don't want your chickens to get sick.

Hope everything goes well with moving your chickens to the new coop/run!

My Brother just finished our girls new home today, they are spending their first night out of the garage. They usually spend the days outside in the run a.nd their nights in the garage. I'm a nervous Mother hen, my babies are growing up
