Coop Set Up And Cost?

Quote:
Haha Oh believe me my version was gonna cost at the most $100 but my friend pushed for all this new materials, he even put shingles on the roof. Which is kind of crazy considering we only get rain like 3 time a year.

There is people who likes to have their coop match their house color and design

I met this guy I sold some hens to , and he told me, he got his coop made and cost him $2000

for me it was crazy

but hey

Fo rme it will take a month to make 2000 dls
may be for him 1 week.... I guess

i know it sounds like a lot but you have to take into consideration that i live in the pacific north west where it is cold and rainy 10 months out of the year and i really want to raise gambles which i believe will do better with a dryer climate and also by inclosing it the cost to heat will be minimal in the winter.

A 2'x4'x1' pen cost me around $50, including 37" legs. They don't look pretty, but they are 2'x4'x1'. Change any of those dimensions, and you get wood/wire waste.

I go for simple. Sorry, it's just me

Mine I build like GQF rollout egg pens I just build them a little larger I get 2 cages from a roll of wire a roll of wire at Lowes cost $16 the racks they sit in are built from 3/4" PVC . Mine are located under a lean to keeps the owls and hawks out . on my grow out pens the legs are 1" Pvc fastened to the cage with hose clamps LOL Except for the lean to part there is no wood in mine.

Hey Crash,

Bottom line, that is a pretty nice pen setup you have there regardless of cost. To each his own.

Yeah I like it a lot, plus my birds deserve it they are really cool, friendly and great egg laying machines lol

Post an ad on your local Freecycle (to find yours, go to freecycle.org) asking for a rabbit hutch. Then when someone gives you one (hopefully SOMEONE will) then you can alter it like I did. That required a $7 roll of 1/2in hardware cloth, an $8 pair of tin snips), then you find someone with quail that will either give to you free - or will sell at a reasonable price. Around here you can get fertile eggs for $1 each, 3wks for $2 and 5wks for $3. The feed is anywhere from $15-18 for a 50lb bag. And you are done!

I don't know much about gambles....

but coturnix do not need heat in the PNW, They just need shelter from the wet and wind.
