coop sides- use wire or wood panels? very hot in the summer!

Important to have a combo of natural and man made shelter. I have huge fruit trees in and around the pig/poultry area. Mostly mango, almond, and avacados. The natural shade is the first defence agianst the heat. Heat, is my main problem, followed by rain and preds. We never get below 65*, man when it hits 68* everyone is complaining how cold it is and putting on jackets.

All my coops are wire side, with drop down metal awanings. Will try to post pics. easier than explaining the system.

a little off topic but when using paint on the wood does it matter what type of paint to use?

It needs to be exterior paint or stain. If using a paint an exterior primer is recommended even with the new self priming paint. Exterior stains come in all wood tone colors and in solid body that can be tinted any color you wish like paint. Stain is easier to apply and when redo takes less effort to scrap to reapply though will last 5-7 years opposed to paints 7-10.
