My goals for tomorrow are to get the fence up for the duck house, get this small bachelor pad put together and get the final touches done on the inside of the duck house. whew busy busy on the morrow.

UPDATE* I love this little coop, it is perfect for a drake bachelor pad I got it together, added hinges and latches and hardwire cloth on the little door opening and it is gonna be fabulous! I cut a cover for the pop door opening and have it hinged and Saturday I will finish it with a latch and paint.

Here it is all fenced in to give them more room to romp and have their pool, I will just open the run door and let them out into the bigger area.

The nest box with handle, hinges and latches. I am going to add a latch inside just as extra security

There is one of these latched on each side of the nest box

My box arrived without the hardware and a huge hole in the box end, so I am sure the hardware fell out somewhere and I just bought all the hardware and extra screws. I screwed the flooring plates down in the nest box and coop itself even though it was notched, I have to add the pond liner inside there just as moisture protection. I am going to add a screw to each corner of the roof because I can lift it with easy one handed so a team of coons probably lift it too and one slip in.

It went together really easy, I had a few tough moments because I was doing it by myself but it was still not bad at all.

Thanks again gal!

Oh I am so glad.

I poromise you cetawin that your box had no holes in it when it left, but they are heavy and I am sure get really beaten up in their travels.

I am so fustrated I have not heard from a lot of people, I dont understand paying $50 and then doing nothing when they arrive, and I am afraid to sell them to someone else cause I know the second I do I will get an e-mail asking for theirs back.

I wanted to show everyone what I did to improve the coop.

Besides latches and hinges of course, I added a floor to the bottom and then wheels and handles to move it easily around.

I added wood to the top of the coop so that the roof has a tilt to it for any rain or snow. I didn't like the flat roof design. It also provides much more head room inside the coop.

I added vinyl flooring inside the coop and nest box for easy clean-up.

Plexiglass for the door opening (to prevent drafts).

31358_small_coop_016.jpg

A door for the coop entrance and there's a small roost in the run area.

I also added a bead of silicone around the roof and nest box. I highly recommend this if it gets rained on!

The only thing I need to do now is find some vinyl for the floor inside the run. I plan to wheel this coop into the garage at night since I don't think it's predator proof and in the winter it may not be warm enough for the elements here. But I LOVE this little coop and thanks so much Susan for getting it for me!!!

So where did you find the little wheels? Would Lowe's have them? Can you tell I am not good at doing things like this?

I had them from an old lawn mower. I did see some at Home Depot and Lowes must have them too. You can buy those cool swivel wheels and put them on all four corners but I have to pick mine up on one end to get over the garage floor "hump".

Having this on wheels just makes it so much easier for me to move in and out and it's actually surprisingly light to manuver around! Love it!

ETA: You can see I added a piece of pressure treated as a "foot" on the opposite end to keep the coop level.

Gosh some of you are so clever. I truly hope I can put it together.
