I am in the process of building my chicken coop & run. I understand that chickens will naturally seek the safety of a coop at night, but do they have to be trained to go into a coop? In other words ... once my coop and run are complete should I put the chicks into the coop and leave them in for a bit so that they have a sense of where home/roost is? Or is this something they will naturally seek out? Thanks for the advice ...

You should put them in the coop yourself at first and put them on the roost to show them, but they will eventually find out [IMG].
