Coop under deck question

Right - I wasn't going to put them on the gravel (as discussed in earlier threads, the idea of removing rock and weed paper underneath coop so they have access to the grass and putting deep litter there as a base)....do you have any other reasons that you think the location is inappropriate?
If you manage the bedding well, there shouldn't be too much smell.

I was really intending to keep them in the coop (which isn't super ideal for how I like to have chickens, but this is a different set up than before too). Thoughts?

You can bring in things to help keep them busy. Something as simple as a pile of dried leaves to dig through, different levels of roosts or platforms to go up and down on, etc.

I have a similar space under our deck and I was considering using for our ducks (4 females) and their run. In the mountains, we have a lot of predators and super storms, and this seems like a safe solution. Its already latticed in, just smaller wire at the base to keep the predators out would be needed. We bought a remade duck house to go under there already. For smell, people have recommended the horse barn PDZ refresher.

im wondering how this turned out or how anyone’s similar project turned out.
