We had a small flock of girls that are approaching 5 years old and were in a 7x6 coop that was just entirely too complicated to access, clean and collect eggs. So UPGRADE. New coop is 8x10. We installed vinyl flooring. Now trying to decided on exterior access to nesting boxes or interior? And roosting bar set ups. We are thinking quite a few chickens and a three ducks. The attached run will be 10-12’x40’. Suggestions always welcomed.

:clap:thumbsup:clap Now THAT'S an upgrade!! I just love it. Nice work.
Where are you located? You can include that general information in your profile.
I prefer not to have to access the interior of the coop to collect eggs so I like bump out nest boxes.

Do you have ventilation under the soffits?

Thanks Located in GA. Going to have to add a little more ventilation under the soffets a hole saw and some mesh should take care of that problem. Coop is just converted prefab shed so. Still a lot of work on the run left and digging in a drainable duck tub, waterer, feeder, dust bath, chicken tree, etc.

Really nice shed to start with and plenty of space to put roosts and nest boxes wherever you want. Where are you thinking of placing the pop door? I'd consider that first, then put the nest boxes at least a little distance from pop door opening (so muddy feet will wipe off a bit on the litter) and then put roosts away from that so there's no chance of soiling the boxes, or if you want to build upwards, have them above the nests with a poop tray.

I have internal nest boxes so rain is never an issue (both potential leakage and having to pick up eggs while standing in the rain) but either option can work.

What's on the soffit now?
I'd make the whole soffit 1/2" HC.

Nice shed!!
Look like it's surrounded by shade...deciduous or evergreen?

Thanks.
The soffit is closed with the same exterior paneling as the shed. I don’t really want to cut it all out so we’re thinking several 3.5” holes drilled along both sides.

Little mix of both deciduous and evergreen back there so it’s a nice balance.

And we added some shoe molding that will never get seen this afternoon because we’ll the minor gaps that I will never see were bothering me and some coop lightings

Rosemarythyme we are thinking of doing an L shape along the wall like you are talking about. Maybe with a little section along all the third wall to the window then the nest boxes right next to the entry door. We ordered these nest boxes as they will fit where we want and we didn’t want to cut a hole in the side of the shed

The will fit between the door and window on the right side of the coop.
Then we ordered two feeders for the run

The run will be 12’x36’. Got a lot done this weekend and worked on our goat barn as well. Next weekend will be even more hectic. Thanks everyone.
