hey guys, as my ducklings get larger and larger by the day i realized i haven’t seen a good coop or anything i can use to keep them outside. is there anything you guys use to keep your ducks together but in a bigger space? i have 5 ducks

Do you have an area that will be their run or you you free ranging the ducks? In a fenced in area, they don't need much for a shelter. A dog house would work fine. I have 6 ducks thatuse a 4'x4' "duck house" I built into our chicken coop. Somebody else I recently saw is using an igloo dog house. You could go bigger if you want or if you intend to lock them in for a period of time. My chicken coop is built into our shed. You could use a shed for ducks as well. They stay on the ground though, so the added height would just be for human convenience.

Whatever you choose to do, be sure it's ventilated. Ventilation is for more important than heat retention. The shelter should just act as a wind block and rain/snow cover.

i plan on keeping them in my backyard do they could have free range to roam around. my backyard is completely fenced but i’m paranoid and don’t want anything to happen to them because they’re still little babies, they’re just huge in size and are out growing their brooding space quickly. do i need a pool or pond? what would i need to make it the adequate duck house?

I'm a fan of giving them swimming water. A kiddie pool would suffice. I had an ornamental pond in our backyard before we decided to add ducks, so that's now the duck pond for us. As for what else you need, just some bedding and a bowl for feed. For bedding we use pine shavings. For feeders we use rubber bowls from a farm supply store. Chicken feeders tend to have narrow openings that don't work so well for ducks' bills. Be sure that the ducks have access to water when they eat. They need to drink to properly swallow food. Our pond is their water source. If I didn't have a pond though, I would still keep the water, even if just a bowl of water, outside the duck house. Ducks are messy with their water!

thank you!! do you know where to find a relatively large dog house?

If you use a dog house unless your pen is fork Knox your going to need a door for security. And closing them inside with out good ventilation can harm them because the ammonia in their poop can cause respiratory distress. Maybe look on Craigslist for dog house children’s play house that can be converted too duck houses even a storage shed can be made into a duck house.
