These are not crossed with anything "that I have"!!
Feathered shanks is a breed characteristic of Marans.....

It's a breed characteristic for the "French" variety - I probably didn't put enough info. in my question - sorry, I sometimes think way too fast and cant' type to keep up!!

The adult brids in the picture in your post do not have featherd shanks. The chicks in the other picture DO have feathered shanks. Thus, I was inquiring how you got the feathering in, if the adult roos do not have feathering. I.E., are you breeding a clean-shanked roo over feather-shanked hens/pullets? I'm just curious. Thanks!

Those photos don't show legs well. All of my adults have some degree of feathering on their legs... altho its quite thin on some hens. The males have a fair amount of feathering.... you can see in this photo. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3206/2996374456_8f039c54f6_o.jpg
I
am assuming the chicks that 'appear' to be clean legged now will develop a few feathers with maturity.

all the chicks I got from the batch you hatched for me are doing well there is a beautiful blue pullet with wonderful lacing and already copper feathers coming in I think she will be wonderfully marked. I only have two boys but I probably won't be able to keep either
