Copperhead snakes

I just heard about copperhead living in mass and I worry if our chickens are going to be snake meal

There is more risk to egg loss and young chicken/very small bantam breeds loss than there is to standard adult birds. If you are really worried about it, you can keep your environment less snake friendly and you will reduce the draw that would bring snakes in. If your birds are confined, this is easily done as part of your guarding against other pests and predators, if they range you can keep the area they range in in such a way that it is less attractive to snakes. Many times it is the presence of other prey that will bring a snake calling - such as rodents attracted by feed. If you keep the rodent population in check you will also keep the snake issue down.
