I have a 7 1/2 week old chick who is all swelled (puffed) up and their droppings look strange. I have decided by talking to others that I need to treat him for coccidiosis. I purchased Corid 9.6% oral solution. Idk how to dose with it though. This chick has a bunk mate, so I will just be treating these 2.
I also purchased the Poly Vi Sol which I know to give them a few drops in the beak. I just need an idea of how to give them the Corid plz??

The 9.6% Corid dosage is 2 teaspoons liquid per gallon of water. Treat for 5-7 days, and do not give vitamins during treatment.

Dosing with 9.6% liquid amprolium (Corid or Amprol)

http://www.drugs.com/vet/amprol-9-6-solution-can.html
"Poultry - as Soon As Caecal Coccidiosis Is Diagnosed, Give 0.024% Amprolium In The Drinking Water For 5 To 7 Days. Continue The Treatment With 0.006% Amprolium Medicated Water For An Additional One To Two Weeks. No Other Source Of Drinking Water Should Be Available To The Birds During This Time."

FDA recommendations:
http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/animaldrugsatfda/details.cfm?dn=013-149
"Chickens
Indications: For the treatment of coccidiosis.
Amount: Administer at the 0.012 percent level in drinking water as soon as coccidiosis is diagnosed and continue for 3 to 5 days (in severe outbreaks, give amprolium at the 0.024 percent level); continue with 0.006 percent amprolium-medicated water for an additional 1 to 2 weeks."

1/2 teaspoon per gallon = .006%
1 teaspoon per gallon = .012%
2 teaspoons per gallon = .024%

The dosage for Corid liquid is two teaspoons per gallon of water (1/2 teaspoon per quart). Don't give the Poly Vi Sol vitamins while treating for Coccidiosis. Vitamins will interfere with the treatment. It is a good idea, though, to give vitamins after treating.

FWIW, I'm trying the 2 teaspoons (.024%) for 5-7 days followed by 1/2 teaspoon (.006%) for 1-2 weeks.
