I've read through as much of the Corid related threads as I can, so I apologize if this is answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it.
I have a quart waterer for my 5 chicks, so I'm treating with 1 cc of Corid (preventative dose, I did the math) in their water each time I refill it through out the day (they don't drink it all, but I rinse it out when they get too many wood shavings in it or when one perches on top and poops in it). Do I continuously offer solely the Corid water for 5 days if I'm doing this as a preventative? I saw a couple poops that had some intestinal lining in them (overall the poops all look normal) and just want to be safe, they've never had Corid or medicated feed in the past, they're 5 weeks old. Thanks!

Only treat if you believe they have cocciadosis - the only “preventative” measure is medicated food, which is still 50/50..... cocci is everywhere so you want to practice good bio security as a preventative and only use Corid if you see symptoms of cocciadosis. It won’t hurt them if they don’t have it, but you could harm them inadvertently by allowing their bodies to build up an unnecessary tolerance to the Corid itself. Plus, amprolium (Corid) starves the protozoan parasite of essential b vitamins which also effects your birds.

Oh geez, okay, in all my research I missed that info. I don't think they have it. Overall, their poop is totally normal. I just had a 2 poops with a slight bit of intestinal lining, but no real blood. So I will stop using the corid. This is start of 3rd day. Thank you for explaining this to me. I guess I'm just being over protective since I lost one chick last week. But we're pretty sure she was born with an airway/air sac issue. None of the others have shown any symptoms of anything. Just want to keep my girls healthy. Thanks again!

You’re welcome 😉
